Rated the 33rd best recruit in the nation, Trey DePriest from Springfield OH selected the Alabama Crimson Tide over Ohio State, LSU, Notre Dame Virginia Tech & many other schools.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound football phenom played linebacker at Springfield High School. His size, speed and agility might be best used at linebacker or he might bulk up and play elsewhere on defense. Look for him to make an impact for the Tide in short order.

Rolando McClain with the Oakland Raiders

NFL Oakland Raiders have signed Crimson Tide linebacker Rolando McClain for a bucketload of cash. The Raiders took Rolando McCain early. He was the 8th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. According to ESPN, Rolando McCain has signed a five year deal worth $40 million including a guaranteed $23M . Well done, Rolando!

NBA Kings Hire DeMarcus Cousins High School Coach

Otis Hughley has been hired as a Kings assistant replacing Bryan Gates. Gates left after one season to move to the New Orleans Hornets.

Otis Hughley is 46. As DeMarcus Cousins high school coach, he led Mobile’s LeFlore High School to six regional tournaments in a row and won the 2007 Alabama state championship. Besides coaching DeMarcus Cousins, he’s also been an assistant coach at Wright State, Liberty and Southern.

NFL Texans Cornerback Kareem Jackson

Houston Texans have reached a contract agreement with cornerback Kareem Jackson, the team’s number one pick (20th overall) from Alabama in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He played in 41 career games with the Crimson Tide, starting all but one.

Jackson had 159 tackles (106 solo) that included eight tackles for loss. He also deflected 29 passes during his college career and had five interceptions.

His 29 pass deflections rank fourth on Alabama’s all-time list and his 13 pass-breakups in 2009 are seventh best in school history.

During his career with the Crimson Tide Jackson also forced one fumble, recovered one fumble, and blocked two kicks.

In 2009 Jackson led an Alabama secondary that was second in the nation in pass efficiency defense allowing an average of 90.43 yards per game.

Also in 2009 he ranked fifth in the SEC in passes defended (10) and tied for third in pass breakups (13).

Once again Texans general manager Rick Smith opens training camp Friday with all of his 2010 draft picks under contract.

Coach Anthony Grant has scored 2 great looking guards for the 2011 Alabama Basketball recruiting class: Levi Randolph & Rodney Cooper.

Levi Randolph is a 6-6 guard from Bob Jones High School near Huntsville. Rodney Cooper is a 6-5 guard from Russell County High School in Phenix City. They’re both highly rated prospects. Look for them to make some noise quickly on the hardwood. Some are saying that Randolph may be the best basketball recruit from the state of Alabama since DeMarcus Cousins.

Melvin Ray was part of the oversigned Alabama recruiting class of 2008 but was drafted by the LA Dodgers & played 3 years in minor league baseball. He’s now given up baseball and will try to make the Alabama football team in 2011. Melvin Ray will be 21 years old and currently has 4 years of eligibility to help the Tide.
